About
Family-owned industrial minerals group based in Frechen near Cologne, founded in 1884 to mine a silica sand deposit in Frechen-Buschbell. It extracts, processes and refines quartz, kaolin, feldspar, wollastonite and mica into more than 700 grades sold in 50 countries, with sites in Germany, Austria, Poland, Bulgaria, Serbia, Ukraine, Korea and other countries, and the Amberger Kaolinwerke kaolin business in Hirschau. Its HPF The Mineral Engineers division supplies functional fillers and extenders for paints and coatings: TREMIN wollastonite and MICA muscovite for epoxy corrosion-protection coatings (allowing anticorrosive pigments to be partly or fully left out), TREFIL anhydrite-based filler for 2K PU high-solid topcoats as an alternative to synthetic barium sulphate, and quartz, cristobalite and feldspar fillers for powder coatings.
