Kyoto film-coating company, founded in 1876 as a maker of gold and silver thread and incorporated in 1947; about 650 employees. Its core business is vacuum-deposited and wet-coated plastic film (display, electronics, packaging and transfer films), and it runs a Powder Materials SBU in Kamitoba, Kyoto. Its ELgee neo metallic powder is a lightweight, high-gloss effect pigment in a range of colours, with heat, weather and chemical resistance, offered for paints, screen-printing and metallic inks, plastics moulding and metallic-coloured pellets (automotive, appliances, construction materials). It is also developing "Leaf Powder", a vapor-deposited aluminium flake 1–20 µm across and 10–500 nm thick, supplied as a solvent dispersion for inks and paints. Liaison offices in Shanghai and Paris.
