UK maker of black (carbon black) masterbatch and conductive compounds for the thermoplastics industry, based in Failsworth, Manchester. The company started in rubber production in 1934 and moved to plastic masterbatch in 1994; it added conductive compounds (Whittaker Technical Plastics, 2010) and twin-screw compounding (2023). Black masterbatch combines carbon black with additives such as UV stabilisers, flame retardants and anti-stats; over 300 formulations. Also additive, sustainable/bio and graphite/graphene masterbatches and contract manufacturing. Markets: pressure pipes, wire and cable, geosynthetics, film and packaging, agriculture (irrigation, silage, mulch), automotive interior and exterior, consumer goods, carpets and synthetic fibres. ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
